Martin Spurling is Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Turkey since November 2010 and also fullfills the HSBC Group General Manager role since 2013. He has over 20 years experience with HSBC as an International Manager, where he has enjoyed a wide range of roles from retail and corporate banking to treasury and investment banking in various markets worldwide. Most recently Martin was CEO of HSBC’s global offshore business based in Jersey, and prior to that he was Deputy CEO in both Taiwan and Pakistan. Martin currently serves on the boards of the Turkey Bankers Association, Junior Achievement Young Enterprise Europe, and the Turkey–UK Prime Ministers’ CEO Forum, where he is also Co-Chair of the Finance Working Group. In Jersey, Martin was a founder member of the Jersey Financial Services Advisory Board as well as an active board member of Jersey Finance Ltd (JFL). Martin has a Bachelor’s Degree from Durham University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Financial Services.
Sengul Demircan who has a strong and diverse background of Human Resources Leadership at multinational companies in Turkey, has been the Head of Human Resouces at HSBC Turkey since May 2011. Prior to her post at HSBC, she has undertaken the roles of Assistant General Manager at Avea in 2007-2011 and Human Resources & Organisational Development Manager at Danone Tikveşli in 2004-2007. Şengül started her career as a Management Consultant at Andersen Consulting in 1997, and then worked as an Human Resources Consultancy Manager at Ernst & Young between 2001-2004. She gained expertise on people strategy, change management, corporate culture and re-structuring during her consultancy career, and has extensive experience at all human resources processes. Şengül is the mother of daughters, holds an Industrial Engineering degree.
